Frequently Asked Questions - Director of Operations Transition
Why is Nancy stepping down as Director of Operations?
Nancy has made the personal decision to step down in order to devote more time to helping her son pursue his goals and to support the organization in other ways. We fully support Nancy's decision and are grateful for her dedication, leadership, and service to Good Works Farm. We feel the organization is strong and stable, and has a plan for a seamless transition.
When is her last day?
Nancy's official last day as Director of Operations is expected to be August 31, 2026. However, she will still be providing help and support beyond that.
Will she still be part of the Organization?
Yes! Nancy is, and will always be, the Founder of Good Works Farm. Nancy will remain on the Board of Directors, along with her husband, Bob, and she will continue to provide support and guidance to the incoming Director for the foreseeable future. She will also continue to provide Shared Living through GWF for her son, and her son will continue to receive services as a farmer with GWF. Nancy plans to remain involved in many ways.
What happens next?
Nancy will continue to lead the organization as she does now while the Board of Directors conducts a formal search for the next Director of Operations. We expect the process to take no more than 60 days.
Who will take her place as Director of Operations?
Jonna Clark, Director of Programs, has been named the Interim Director of Operations during the transition. Jonna has been with the organization for 4 years and has worked alongside Nancy learning all facets of the job, loves our farmers, and has the knowledge and skills to lead the organization. She will be a strong candidate for consideration of the permanent position.
Will this change affect the farmers or programs?
No. All programs will continue, uninterrupted, and the farm will still be available to farmers as it is now. The stability of our farmers and a seamless transition remain our top priorities.
Will we still have camp? Woodworking?
Yes! The farm will still be used by GWF for summer day camp and Mr. Bob will still provide woodworking activities. Camp will have a committee to organize it with the new DOO at the helm. Bob & Nancy will be your property logistics team.
What about fundraisers and events?
Yes! GWF can still use the property as they do now for fundraising and events! The Punkin' Chuckin' Palooza will still be held in October as it is now!
How will this transition affect staffing?
We have hired a new DSP who will start soon and we are looking for a second to join our team. Low ratios are a priority for us and we will continue to keep that as a top priority.
Will this change destabilize the organization?
No. Good Works Farm has grown into a stable, well-structured organization with a $1M annual budget; has the best people working for it; serves the best families in the community; and has an excellent reputation. The system and processes we've built over the past 14 years ensures continuity and resilience.
What does this mean for the organization's long-term strategic goals?
The Board of Directors is not changing. Nancy and Bob remain active members of the Board of Directors and the organization's Strategic Plan remains unchanged.
